Getting Started with mute.fm
You have just installed mute.fm, a program that mutes your music while watching videos...automatically.
Let's try it out.
- If you haven't noticed, mute.fm has started playing some classical background music for you. If you do not hear it, make sure you have an Internet connection, the master volume isn't zero or muted, the physical volume on your speakers is set, and that you are wearing your headphones if they are plugged in. Also, if you have any programs open that are making sound, mute/pause/stop them and wait a few seconds for the music to begin.
- Let's test the automute feature by playing a video. For your convenience, one is included below; click Play.
You should experience the music fading out when the video starts and fading in a few seconds after the video completes.
- If you want to listen to your own background music:
- Open the mute.fm mixer window. Normally, you can find it by clicking on the
icon in the system tray. (You may need to click on the ^ button to see it; if so, drag the mute.fm icon down to make it easier to find in the future.) For your convenience, the window will be opened the first time the program is run.
- The Music menu will allow you to set any program or website as your background music.
